Okay.. for real.. how do you stop time?

I am getting so so sad with how fast it is already flying by

I just want my baby to stay a baby.

Don't get me wrong, he changes every day and I love thinking of all the fun new things that will continue to happen each and every day

But... I also know that I will never ever ever get these days back

and it makes me sick! I don't ever want these days to go away! Sad! SAD SAD!!

When I am constantly taking pictures of him I always hear people in my head that say,

"Just enjoy the moment.. don't worry about capturing everything"

I try my best to really do both. I move the camera and enjoy the moments

But I absolutely have to have the camera out and capture everything I can..

Because I want to remember these days forever!!

Height/Weight

This little boy is getting so big

We went in for his 2 month check up on June 20th

He weighed 11 lbs 11 oz (48th percentile)

and was 24 inches long (84 %)

Head circumference-- 16.1 inches (73%)

So he has gained almost 5 lbs since birth! Chunky monkey! I love it.

and he is 2.5 inches taller!

Seriously.. did I mention they grow up too fast!? ugh!

Diapers

Still in a size 1! I don't imagine we will be changing out of these for awhile!

Eating

He is still being such a good little eater.

He eats pretty consistently every 2 hours on the mark all day long

It is really so funny.. when it hits that 2 hour mark, he lets you know!

He pretty much has it down to about 5-7 minutes to eat

It is a miracle

I remember never believing people when they told me that day would come!

I'm so grateful it did

Seriously.. breastfeeding is so convenient

At the mall?.. hungry baby? oh, no problem

Just step into a dressing room for 5 minutes..

take care of business and be on your way!

No need to pack formula and bottles and such.

(Not to say that bottle feeding is bad.. or inconvenient, because I am sure it has it's plus sides obviously.. I just am so so grateful for the connection I have with breastfeeding considering I was so opposed!)

Sleeping

Man.. I really don't even want to put this down here, because I am just certain I am going to jinx everything..

But.. he is such a great sleeper!

He always has been

But it just keeps getting better..

Typical night he goes to bed about 9.. sometimes 10.

Sleeps til about 4 or 5..

YES!! count it up.. 7 hours people. WHAT THE WHAT!?

Then wakes up.. eats.. and back to sleep til 730 or so.

This last little stretch always varies..

It really could be anywhere from 6 to 8.. ya just never know.

I still feel pretty exhausted in the morning and never want to get out of bed..

I never thought I'd be that person.

But once I am up, I am totally fine and feel rested and happy

and just wanna kiss that little Luca's face right off for being such a good kid!

Also, it is the funniest thing when it is bed time
I lay him down on our bed to start getting him ready
and he is seriously the happiest human ever!
Ryan always makes fun of me because when I crawl into bed at night I always say
"Ahhhh.. my favorite time of day"
As I stretch out and melt into those comfy sheets! I love it so much!
Anyway.. I'm pretty sure baby Luca and I are on the same page on this one...
cus this kid knows when it's about time for him to go to bed
and he loves it.
Although, now that I think about it, he doesn't get to crawl into comfy sheets
and that must really be no fun at all...
just a tightly wrapped up babe in an swaddle wrap thingy..
poor kid.

Also..

The night before his 2 month check up he slept the whole night..

From 930 until 630.

My alarm went off at 6 and he was still sleeping!

I was shocked.. and happy.. and knew it couldn't possibly ever happen again..

and it hasn't

But I'm certain it's all because of the Dr. appointment..

Doctor's Appointments

We had is 2 months check up like I said..

Well.. so this is when he has to get some immunizations

Now.. I'm all for immunizations, so is Ry.

However, all the sudden you have a kid and you start questioning everything

you worry about them getting sick

or poking them with needles

and how sad all of this is

so you try and work something out together

you come up with a plan that will work best for the three of you

and that's what you do

so.. we decided on spreading the vaccines out a bit

we felt like it seemed like a bit much to have his perfect tiny little body get so much yuckiness all at once

So.. ry had more of an idea of what he wanted than I knew for sure

and he couldn't come to the appointment..

He told me to just get a few.. the top ones the doc recommended

So.. I talked to our doctor, Dr. LeBras

and he suggested that he would get the DTaP for sure

then next he would do the pneumo something (yeah, I just graduated nursing school.. I can't remember what it's called.. and it's waaaayy passed my bedtime and i'm not about to look it up)

anyhow.. he then pointed out that there was this one called the Pediarix..

it has DTaP, HebB, and polio.. all in one shot

This sounded like a deal to me.. 2 less pokes for my babe.

So I said okay to that one and the pneumococcal (is that right?)

decided to not do rotovirus or Hib.. rotovirus is an oral one and Hib meant one more shot..

turns out ry's mind wasn't thinking "pokes" like mine was..

So I kinda gave little baby Luca more vaccines than the plan we had decided on..

oops! (obviously it's fine, it's still less than everyone else gives their kids)

Anyway.. fast forward to that night..

fever.. sad.. Tylenol.. good!

Still.. he was fussy and we were concerned worried parents.

Was he going to be okay?

He was. He was definitely fussy though and had a rough night sleeping.

went down at 9. up at 1130. 130. 300. 430. and then 7.

Yeah, i know.. that's probably most moms typical night.

Well not me! My kid slept through the night the night before..

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!

I was not prepared for that.

then.. theeennnn on Saturday he developed a stuffy nose and cough

oh no... what's wrong now?

and your crazy parent mind goes all over the place

"vaccines are bad people say...."

"maybe the vaccines caused this cold.."

(again, I just graduated nursing school.. I should know this isn't possible.. it was a cold. come on Miranda.. but for reals.. your crazy mind goes alllll over the place)

And finally.. finally you understand why parents are so crazy.

because kids make you crazy

and sick kids reallllllllyyy make you crazy.

Like crazy enough that I took him back to the Dr. on Monday

I was just so worried and I needed the doctor to confirm that it was in fact a cold

and send me out the door with some saline spray

and say good luck lady!

and he did just that.

and it's been 10 days now.. and he is getting better.

Night time isn't as rough now.

Mornings are sad. The poor kid just can't breathe at all!

and he really hates me to suction (and Ryan hates even more when I do it)

So.. slowly it's getting back to okay.. but how about that sleeping through the night business?

I'm ready for that again!

(he still sleeps til 4.. so tell me to shut up)

Social

He loves to coo and tell stories to everyone

He follows people around when you walk away from him

he can follow my voice and sometimes find me

he definitely recognizes my voice.. and I think Ry's too. (haven't tested that one out as much)

He seriously is just the happiest baby ever

Even being so sick this last week he still just tries so hard to always be happy

Funniest thing--

The kid has little furrowed eyebrows all the time!

He isn't angry.. so I don't know why he does it, but it is so dang funny.

I keep trying to tell him he is gonna get wrinkles if he keeps that business up

but he doesn't seem to care

Likes

He really has been obsessed with his hands lately

He is totally going to be a thumb sucker

he tries so hard to get his hand to his mouth.. and once it's there the whole fist gets shoved in

Sometimes it doesn't make it quite to his mouth and he knocks himself in the head

but.. he's learning! :)

He likes his little bouncer. He has one and gradma and poppa keith's and so we got him one for our house

their's has a vibrating thing and that really soothes him. Ours doesn't work quite as well.. it basically broke within 30 minutes of having it. But it does play lullabies.. and he also enjoys that.. so I kept it.

Loves when you talk to him and so ooooohhhhh

he smiles and coos and says it back

Still loves baths

being in the stroller/car seat

{He is a good little errand runner, thank goodness. And I really think he gets in a bad mood when we are just home all day.. he likes to get out of the house}

Still in 0-3 month! Thank goodness. I need to get some use out of all of these ones I have!

Random things

He is so clammy!!

His little hands and feet get so cold and sweaty.. it is so funny! and kinda sad

And then what they do is collect a whole lot of lint

Really.. I have never seen a baby collect lint like this..

Does this happen to all babies?! How did I miss this?

he has the longest prettiest eyelashes

I hope they stay that way

I never mentioned in the birth or 1 month post

but when he was first born his little nose was so red and cold all the time

it was so cute and it also made me so sad because I thought it was like really affecting him and that he didn't like it being cold all the time! I don't know why, but I just don't want to forget that little cold red nose!
