Eleven months?!

Where did the time go.

I can't believe my baby will be one in a few short weeks!

It goes by WAAYY too fast.

I had to add these pictures below to show that it's not always happy times when taking his monthly pictures.

He was not having it yesterday when I was trying to take his picture

He just kept crying and rolling over,

despite my efforts to grab every stuffed animal and cool noisy or bright fun toy in sight.

He said no thanks.

It's a miracle we even got one good picture.

Weight

We haven't had a well check since 9 months

However, we have spent a lot of time in the doctor's office this month

The last time we were there he was at 18 lbs 11 oz.

Doctor Visits

First he had a really bad fever of 103.5 and a cough.

I knew he was teething, he had just gotten his 3rd bottom tooth a few days prior {Feb. 22}

but it was still pretty high so we went in to see what else was going on

Of course it ended up being the doctor's early day so by the time I called at 12 he was already gone

so we waited until the next day to go in. {Feb. 26}

There's just something about seeing your own doctor.

He ended up having the start of an ear infection in his right ear.

So we got him on some amoxicillin

then a week later his top 2 teeth came in {March 2}

then he had another fever on day 10 {the last day} of his antibiotic

so I took him back into the doctor

His doctor was out of the office this day too, so we went to the on call doctor

He cleaned out Luca's ears of all the wax and said he still had his ear infection

so he got put on a stronger antibiotic, Omnicef.

We gave him one dose that night {March 10} and another dose the next night

then on the 12th when I was getting him ready for bed, I noticed a new rash on his belly/chest.

He has eczema on his back, but I knew this looked different.

So we ended up calling the on call doctor that night

and luckily they were just down the street at Timpanogas Hospital

it was 815 and they didn't close till 9

so we hurried and took him in.

I was just nervous and didn't want to give him another dose of the medication

and didn't want to put him to bed without knowing what was going on.

When we undressed him there it had spread down to his thighs and on the bottoms of his feet

So the doctor determined that he had an allergy to the antibiotic

so she got him on yet another antibiotic.

Phew.

All the while, we switched from nursing to whole milk.

After many failed attempts at formula and whole milk, we finally started adding about 1/8 teaspoon of instant breakfast powder to 5 oz. milk. We were really wanting to leave Luca with my sister while we went to Cancun on vacation, so we were trying all options. and it worked! I was so happy that we tried it. Luca liked my instant breakfast milk, so I decided if we put just a tiny bit in his milk, maybe it would sweeten it just enough that he would take it. and he did.

so I quit breastfeeding on March 8th.

Midnight that night was my last time. :(

I was sad about this, but also so ready to be done.

Luca still hasn't slept through the night and he's kind of a wee little thing

so I was really hoping that switching to whole milk would help him sleep a little better and possibly put on a little bit of weight. {Even though the doctor isn't concerned}

So.. we had a rough few weeks there.

lots of medicine

lots of screaming for 45 minutes a time 3x a night with nothing able to comfort him

lots of snuggles

started watching movies because it was all that would keep him calm and happy

it wasn't too fun.

BUT.. we made it! and he's a tough cookie!

Im convinced he's never going to sleep through the night

He started doing better at April's house while we were in Cancun

and went from about 830-330. then woke up again at 630.

Since he's been home one night he went from 830-10. then til 4. then till 8.

and the next night 830-12. then 330. then 730.

So.. not great, but hopefully there will be improvements soon.

Before he got sick I had read some of the baby whisperer solves all your problems

and I had started trying the method of just laying him back down in his crib when he woke up and giving him his binky and holding my hand firmly on his back and telling him it's okay momma is here until he went back to sleep.

It was working like a charm! He would be comforted in about 5 minutes and put himself back to sleep and didn't require feedings.

But.. of course he had to go and get sick and then it all got messed up and now he won't let me do that anymore.

Clothing

Same as at 10 months.

Still fits into 3-6 month but also wears a lot of 6-9 months.

We got him the cutest little shoes from Old Navy and they are seriously my fav

he looks like the cutest big boy ever!

Random

he has recently loved crawling around the living room and being chased

he thinks it is the funniest thing ever. It's too cute.

He's become quite the fit thrower recently and it's making me terrified for toddler years

He throws his head back and arches his back

He loves his baba and we haven't had to put in instant breakfast for a long time now. He only needed it for about 5 days and then we stopped using it.

Waves bye bye

babbles a ton and I love his little stories he tells

says dada and mama

although he doesn't know what he's saying

he just babbles them

however, sometimes I do think he knows because he wakes up from his nap and says mamamamama

and it's almost like he's calling for me to come get him, but who really knows.

he quit signing "more" and throws a tantrum if I try to get him to do it to get more food

We are still working on getting him to sign "all done/finished"

but so far he hasn't caught on

He has stood on his own a few times

He loves to stand up to furniture and walk all around it.

he has been doing this since pretty much when he learned to crawl.

He loves his aides + anais blankies

and his binky for naps.

He loves to read books

and I love that he loves it

We read before naps and before bed time.

He tries to fit things inside of things

for example, he was playing with a roll of duct tape and a pen for seriously like an hour the other day

he just sat and put the pen in the hole of the roll and then took it out and moved it and put it back in

it's really funny and so cute to watch.

He has recently become very interested in our phones and loves to play with them

He loves to shower with his daddy, but daddy wasn't home and he wanted to get in

So we figured it out on our own!

We went down to Cedar for Madi's baby shower.

it was quite the event!

He didn't love the horses, in fact he was terrified
and pretty scared of the sheep too
but he seemed to really like all things birds.
